FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Construction is underway bringing another new business to Prestonsburg.
Recently O’Reilly Auto Parts opened its doors and now a new Double Kwik is being built.
It is all part of the CentrePointe project located just off US 23 in Prestonsburg.
“We got a 5,000 square foot building here, going to have a Double Kwik, be serving gas, we’re going to be serving food with a drive-through,” said Chris Newsome, a carpenter with Rising Sun Development.
About three weeks ago construction began on the Double Kwik, which is the second business being built in the area.
“I was able to convince O’Reilly Auto Parts to locate their first Eastern Kentucky store in Prestonsburg,” said Frank Fitzpatrick, landowner, and developer at CentrePointe.
The CentrePointe project is divided into two phases with the first part being the Citizens Bank and the post office, which opened in the late 90’s.
The second part is construction on the O’Reilly’s and the new Double Kwik, which is set to open next spring.
Once construction is complete officials said there will be about five acres of land remaining available.
“You know, we’re trying to recruit anything we can to come into the area as far as business,” said Prestonsburg Mayor, Les Stapleton.
Officials estimate the O’Reilly Auto Parts and the Double Kwik will create about 40 jobs.
With the remaining land, they hope to enter a phase three.
