FREE: NT looks to Japan for agriculture exports

THE NORTHERN Territory is looking to increase access to the Japanese for its agri-businesses with a new memorandum of co-operation with the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries.

The memorandum aims to develop supply-chain logistics into the Japanese markets, in addition to promoting and progressing research and development projects in agriculture and aquaculture in the Northern Territory.

Primary Industry and Resources Minister Ken Vowles said the agreement had the potential to push infrastructure opportunities and drive the NT economy.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the Territory to target efforts to attract investment and develop new markets,” he said.

“It is also an exciting opportunity to develop a Japan-Northern Territory agribusiness infrastructure road map, including supply chain logistics.”
